Let me start by saying, Nike has the best slogan!! Like, seriously.  If you’ve been following my journey, you see I am on a new business adventure that kind of just fell in my lap. I kid you not. It started on its own, with the help of the Lord of course.

I have always had a passion for home decor, but never thought I was good enough to actually do it as a business. I just liked to decorate my home, I mean, who doesn’t, right!?

When we bought our house in 2016, it was like I had my very own design business that I could play with and make my own. I saw a few things I liked and tried to implement them.  Some things stuck, and some didn’t. But as I started to find what my style was, it became easier to decide how I wanted things to look.

Fast forward a few years, I decided to plank my bathroom wall (that I’m getting ready to re-do) and that turned out well. Then I got the courage to paint my cabinets, (I still get compliments to this day), and install my flooring,(very proud of myself for that one).

Both were totally outside of my comfort zone, but I did them and totally enjoyed the process.  Each project I took on, gave me more courage to step into the next one. Do you see where I’m going with this?!

Every time I completed one project, it gave me the satisfaction, that I can do this. I had to be my own motivator. Waiting for people to encourage me or even give me the go-ahead was just going to stop me from doing what I really wanted to do.

So, how did I get into my new business adventure of woodworking you ask?! Well, it was God.  I’ve had this passion to build and decorate for a while and He was the one who made it possible and put that said passion inside of me to do it.

When I lost my first blog page, Unapologetically Mee, can we have a moment of silence for that one? May she rest in peace. I had to find another site that was still going to portray what it was I wanted in a blog name.

A lot of domain names that I was looking for were already taken.  When I was going to give up, (Luke 15:17), that’s when God showed up and was like, Workboots & Glasses.  At first, I thought it was too quirky, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized, that’s who I am.

I saw it as more than just a blog, I saw it as a way to incorporate my love for designing into it.  I didn’t see just a podcast, I saw how I would share how God used this platform to share with others going through something similar. I didn’t see just a youTube channel, I saw a way for me to show others that God is in everything we put our hands on if we just allow Him to be in control.

Did you know that my intention of building, creating, and making furniture wasn’t something I saw myself doing as a business? It was supposed to be a hobby. My new business adventure started as a way for me to see if I could create some pieces for my house.

I didn’t expect people to ask me to make custom orders.  All I did was post a video of me going to Home Depot and asking people to guess what I was making. Before I even got home to cut my first piece of wood, I was asked to make something?! That was all God.

He saw in me, what I didn’t see in myself. This wasn’t my long-time goal or something I imagined for myself. This was something for me to try out. Turned out I love it! I think I’m getting pretty good at it too.

So, for whoever is reading this, and you don’t know what it is you should do, find something you’ve always wanted to do and go for it! Just do it…what could go wrong, you find out you don’t like it a move on, or you find you love it and people come to you for it.

Whatever it is, ask the Lord for guidance and let Him use you in ways, you didn’t think or know He could.  You could be on your way to a new business adventure too.

Tell me, what is something you’re afraid to do, but really want to do?
