A few weeks ago I was on the phone talking to someone close to me. They were venting about a
situation that was going on. I listened and waited to find out if they wanted to hear what I had to
say, or if I should just be there while they let whatever was bothering them go.
Well, as I was listening, I was hearing a lot of things that needed to be addressed in their venting
and waited to see if it was my place to share. The statement that was said at the end was, I wish
there was something I could do.
Asking the Right Question
Hearing that, I asked, “what do you want to do?” There is always something you can do, but what
you want to do may be different that what you can do. the reply I received, was “I don’t know
what to do!”
That’s when the unction came in. Maybe, when you know something needs to be done, and you
can’t figure out what to do, we need to be still and let God handle it. We could be interfering with
their process.
Are We a Help or a Hinderance
A lot of times, we think we need to come to the rescue of folks and help out. Don’t get me wrong,
sometimes that is what we should be doing, helping out. But…sometimes, our helping could be a
hinderance. Sometimes, instead of trying to step in and save the day, we allow God to do the
saving…not us.
After explaining this to the person on the other end. They seemed to have a better outlook on the
situation. They even went as far as to say, “that’s what I needed to hear!”
Well, thank you Jesus! I wasn’t sure how that was going to be received as there was silence when I
was done speaking.
The Lord speaks
Later that evening, after I got home from taking my kids to track practice, I started thinking about
the conversation and how it could have went in a whole other direction. As I was pondering, I
heard the Lord speak,
He says:
You’re the glue that is keeping your family together
To which, I responded, “Lord, that’s a lot of pressure…”
Whom much is given, much is required
I said, “I don’t want to fail…”
They aren’t coming to hear what D’ondra has to say, they are coming to hear what I have to say
through you, D’ondra
You’ve been told you have a unique voice, people like your realness
Continue to show them that side of you
Why do you think people come to you for advice, or to vent?!
It’s because they know you care and will help them with what they are going through,
you share Me with them
Look around you, you have a platform whether you see it or not
Trust your process, everything I’ve shown you this far is only the tip of the iceberg, wait till you see
what’s under the surface.
Can I tell you this frightens me…like for real. Every time I know something big is coming, new
challenges come. Yes, I know that’s when we grow and are being stretched, but I am still freaking
out… a little… ok, a lot!
2 Corinthians 10:4-6 says, For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for
down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the
knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being
ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
Yes, God has my back. Yes, He will be with me. Yes, what is ahead of me is
greater than what’s behind me. So, I’m going to do it afraid. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
What are some challenges you face that have you afraid? Let me know in the comments.
